Venesco, LLC is looking for a Research Nurse to work at U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston, TX.

BACKGROUND: 

The USAISR is part of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and is dedicated to both laboratory and clinical trauma research. Its mission is to optimize combat casualty care. The USAISR is currently funded to perform research to develop both human and animal models to evaluate the most advanced and promising technologies using the most clinically relevant and stringent models possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide research administration services and support of the following research study: Enroute Care: The Impact of Transport Time on Outcomes Following Evacuation from Point of Injury and Influence of Time to Transport on Clinical Outcomes Following Evacuation from Theatre.

  • Characterize patients evacuated by MEDEVAC from point of injury (POI) to a military treatment facility (MTF) in Afghanistan.
  • Determine the effect of long term (out of theater) transport time in patients with major traumatic extremity amputation.
  • Determine the effect of short term (one hour or less) transport time in patients with noncompressible torso hemorrhage.
  • Provide technical and administrative services in support of intramurally and extramurally funded studies requiring pre-study preparation to include regulatory submission process, set-up of files, study recruitment, study intervention, data collection, and study completion.
  • Perform retrospective review of 2,500 patients in the Theater MEDEVAC Database (TMDS) will be conducted
  • Identify optimal time to transport and evaluate clinical outcomes of patients evacuated from theater to a Level 1 military treatment facility (MTF).
  • Determine optimal time to transport patients with extremity compartment syndrome.
  • Determine optimal time to transport patients with moderate or severe TBI.
  • The contractor may also provide technical and administrative services in support of intramurally and extramurally funded studies requiring pre-study preparation to include regulatory submission process, set-up of files, study recruitment, study intervention, data collection, and study completion.
  • Perform retrospective review of 3,000 patients in the Theater Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) database will be conducted.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse from an accredited college or university
